Seizing Each Moment

It was Fathers Day.  When all was said and done and all three kids had been tucked into bed, I asked my husband how his day was.  He announced it had been the perfect Fathers Day.  Then he thought for a moment and mentioned that the only thing he hadn't been able to do was play baseball with our youngest son.  Now our youngest son is a baseball fanatic - to say his life revolves around baseball would be an understatement.  He asks my husband every day to play with him, and without fail, most days my husband obliges.  But today was Fathers Day...

My husband mentioned that he had missed not having done that with him.  After all, the homemade card my son drew for him showed a picture of the two of them playing catch.  Knowing just how much my son would have wanted to play with him too, I told my husband it's never too late.  I suggested he go get him out of bed and take him out back.  When we got to his room, he was sleeping.  Knowing just how much he was going to love it, we decided to wake him.  The day wasn't over yet! 

Our little one leaped out of bed at the gentle whisper of "baseball," told us we were the "best parents ever," and was outside within five seconds!  What I suspected, ended up being true -- it turned out to be a very special and memorable moment between father and son.  They played for about 20 minutes, but it was not like all the other times they had played before.  We all had smiles on our faces.  There was a special love in the air.  There is no other way to sum it up other than to say it was a "celebration of love!" 

When they finished, my son went back to sleep with a big smile on his face -- and he was not the only one!  It truly was a PERFECT Fathers Day!

Thought of the Day:  There is only one day, and that is today.  It's never too late to accomplish everything you want.  Seize each moment -- while it is still within your grasp!
